Bangladesh
has three world heritage sight.Best historical place Shat Gombuj Masque is one
of them.The mosque constructed in the mid 15th century (1440) and completed(1459).The
west wall of the mosque is decorated with stonework and terracotta.This
decoration proved that it was situated in 15th century.
Bagerhat is
situated about 15 miles south east of Khulna and 200 miles south west of Dhaka.The
Shat Gombuj Mosque situated at Tughlaq
style mosque.It was situated by a saint Ulug Khanjahan.In the 15 century
Bagerhat town known as khalifabad.Khanjahan Ali used this masque for prayers
and it was also used as assembly hall and Madrassa.The sixty piller mosque
constructed with 60 pillers and 77 domes.Seventy seven domes are over the roof
and four smaller ones are at the four corners of towers.Two towers were used
tocall azan.It is 160 feet long and 108 feet wide.For the lighting it has 11
doors.The wallof the mosque is 6 feet thick with a slight taper over the hollow
and round walls that makes the mosque Best historical place of Bangladesh.
This
historical mosque proved the golden era of muslim Bengal.We are proud that the
UNESCO has been recognized this mosque as a World Heritage site in1983.If you
